I recently saw the trailer for M. Night Shyamalan's next film, The Lady in the Water. Without giving much away, it looks like a fantasy/horror/scifi goodie.
If the trailer tells you anything, it looks like one of those films about a hardworking blue collar dude who finds some kind of power/fame/sign of privilege that allows him to escape his daily routines, to realize some potential in himself that he previously neglected to notice. Knowing the director, this trailer might be a trick. Whatever it is, I was also left with a nasty after taste because the singer they chose for this trailer's music accompaniment was Josh Groban. I liked Josh when he sang on Ally McBeal, but his rendition of some aria (forgive me my former music professors) was quite distressingly annoying.
I like Shyamalan's films. I am looking forward to this one, and I hope that Josh will play a very minimal role in this film.
